Bachelor of physiotherapy is an Undergraduate Program offered by the KMCT College of Allied Health Sciences, Calicut.
Programme Summary
The physiotherapy dept. started in 2014 is the first dept. of the college. The BPT course has been created to teach students to gauge, design and implement rehabilitative programmes. Physiotherapy treatment method focuses on the science of movement. With the rehabilitative programmes, the Physiotherapists help people to restore, maintain and maximize their physical strength, function, motion and overall well-being by addressing the underlying physical issues.
The curriculum is based upon the guidelines of Kerala University of Health Sciences. The Guide clearly defines physiotherapy practice based upon the model of examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and determination of outcomes. The program is also predicated upon the preparation of physiotherapy professionals who are competent generalist practitioners and is based on the mission of the PT Program.
INFRASTRUCTURE
LABORATORY FACILITY
The college has five main laboratories equipped with the latest physiotherapy instruments and study materials.
Anatomy lab comprises of human skeletons, set of bones, visceral organ specimens, cadavers, histology slides, model chart and posters.
Well-equipped lab of KMCT CAHS Consists of haemocytometer, Neubar chamber, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, and automated cell counter
The exercise therapy lab contains Ramps & Steps, Parallel bars, Guthrie Smith Suspension frame, Shoulder Wheel, Wall ladder & Rope Ladder, Quadriceps Table, Medicine Balls, Weights & Pulley Circuits, Exercising equipment for all peripheral joints, Peg Boards, re-education tables, work stations & Whirlpool Bath.
The electrotherapy lab comprises of modern modalities like: cervical and Lumbar Traction Unit with self-adjustable traction table, Ultrasonic Therapy, TENS, Muscle Stimulator, Interferential Therapy, Hydrocollator, Wax Bath unit etc.
The college has a central high-tech computer lab with advanced computers [with LAN], progressive software programmes, and internet services through wireless connectivity. Additional facilities like Scanning, Printing (black & Colour), CD & DVD Writing etc are facilitated to the students here. This Lab consists of High-speed Servers to control the Networking and share internet on the client PCs
A community health service attached with Pain and Palliative Centre is committed for improving the health of the community.
