The college's International Student Cell (ISC) is essential to assisting international students, encouraging cross-cultural interactions, and raising campus community knowledge of global issues. Offering complete support to international students and facilitating their seamless transition into college life is one of the ISC's main responsibilities.

This includes support with immigration and visa processes, housing accommodations, orientation programs, and individualized academic counseling. The ISC makes sure that international students are accepted and incorporated into the campus community right away by providing a supportive environment.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CELL

1. INTRODUCTION

• Throughout their academic journey, international students require the support and assistance of the International Student Cell (ISC). This SOP describes the steps and policies to guarantee smooth operations and useful support for overseas students.

1. OBJECTIVES

• The International Student Cell in our college aims to provide a conducive environment and a seamless experience for international students during their tenure at the institution.
• The cell organizes various activities throughout the academic year to foster cultural exchange, enhance personal development and create a sense of community among the international student population.
• To provide an international student’s orientation program which serves as an introduction for new international students to the college, its facilities, and the Indian way of life and also about visa regulations, health services, and general guidelines for living in the country
• To organize cultural events and celebrations that promote intercultural understanding and appreciation. These events provide a platform for international students to showcase their cultural heritage and learn about Indian culture.
• To conduct workshops and seminars on topics like cross-cultural communication, language skills development, and intercultural sensitivity. These interactive sessions equip the students with the necessary skills to adapt to the Indian academic system
• It also offers mentorship programs in which mentors provide guidance, support, and assistance to the newcomers, helping them to adapt to the academic and social environment more effectively.
• Additionally, the cell organizes excursions and cultural trips to various tourist destinations in Kerala. The students get the opportunity to visit historical landmarks, experience local cuisine, and explore Kerala's famous backwaters.
• Through a wide range of activities, including orientation programs, cultural events, mentorship programs, and excursions, the cell contributes to creating a supportive and enriching environment for the students.

3. CONSTITUTION

• Every year, the International Student Cell's Constitution may be revised to better reflect changing priorities and requirements
  • Members:The principal performs the role of chairperson and one or two students and at least two faculty members are present
  • .Meetings:Meetings are scheduled as once in a year and if necessary emergency meetings are called
  • Framework: Activities, programs, and facilities geared toward international students are usually the focus of meetings.
  • Purpose:Assessing and improving support mechanisms for international students is the main goal
  • Amendments: The Constitution may be changed as needed by adhering to the prescribed processes
  • Documentation:Minutes of Meetings- After every meeting, comprehensive minutes are created and for future reference , minutes, agendas, and other pertinent papers are kept on file.

4.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

As per the guidelines set by the Supreme Court of India, here is the  eligibility criteria for international students

• One of the parents must be residing abroad
• The person sponsoring the education must be residing outside India and a first-degree relation with the student
• In case of no parents/relatives, the guardian must be an NRI residing abroad and must treat the student like a ward backed up by an affidavit showing interest in the affairs and relationship with the student.
• Nearest Relative can be defined as the real brother/sister of the parents, maternal or paternal grandparents, or first degree maternal and paternal cousins.

5.ADMISSION GUIDELINES

5.1. The Managements are entitled to fill up to 15% of the total seats as international students category by admitting qualified students

5.2. On the basis of the representation received from the aspirants and the clarification sought for by the College under the approval of the Admission Supervisory Committee, the following directives are issued.

5.3. Applications for admission of international students to first year s at this college is being invited online

5.4. Self-attested, scanned copies of the following documents shall be uploaded along with the

Application .The original documents are to be submitted at the time of admission.

5.4.1. Secondary School Leaving Certificate (S.S.L.C.) of student establishing that thestudent  must have completed 17 years of age

5.4.2. HSE or equivalent examination mark-sheet / pass certificate

5.4.3. Proof for International student status (Mentioned below no:6)

5.4.4. Statement to show that the high school in which the student has studied has been accredited by the State/Country/University (if applicable),

Equivalence Certificate from Association of Indian Universities (if applicable), Eligibility certificate from Kerala University of Health Sciences (if applicable)

5.4.5. Course & Conduct Certificate

5.4.6.Transfer Certificate

5.4.7.Copy of Aadhar Card

5.4.8.Passport size photo

5.5. There will be a Physical Verification of all Documents and Interview which is tentatively

5.6. Cancellation of admission and refund/ adjustment of fees: Those who leave the course afterthe closure of admissions will have to pay liquidated damages equivalent to the tuition fees for the remaining period of the course. Any complaints in this regard shall be subject to the legal and factual scrutiny and the  colleges shall return the Certificate and TC of these students, on execution of a bond  by the student along with any of his/her Parents, undertaking to pay the amount that may be ordered by the AFRC or the Court of Law.

5.7.Duration of the Course: The academic duration of the course shall be 4 years

5.8. As per the norms of Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) for admission the minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course), or Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), or Pre-Degree Examination (10+2), or equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum 50% aggregate marks.

5.9. Every student is required to adhere strictly to the Code of Conduct of the college.

6.CERTIFICATES/DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO ESTABLISH INTERNATIONAL STUDENT  STATUS

6.1. A candidate, who applies for this , should submit the Passport copy and Visa/ Green Card/ OCI Documents of their respective sponsors.

6.2.The job of the sponsor should be mentioned in any of the documents.

6.3.In case, the employment of the sponsor is not mentioned in the above documents, the candidate has to produce the employment certificate of the sponsor attested by the Indian Embassy of the country where they work/ Consulate authorities.

6.4. Relationship Certificate to be issued by the Revenue Authorities to prove the relationship between the candidate &the  relative residing abroad  However, the relationship between the candidate and his/her father/ mother, which are recorded in the educational certificates, maintained in the usual course of transactions by the competent authorities, shall be accepted.

6.5. The Candidate shall produce the sworn affidavit from the Sponsor in a stamp paper worth Rs. 200/-. The same shall also be notarized by the Notary Public, disclosing that the student is dependent of the sponsor and the all expenses i.e.tuition fee and special fee, of the candidate for the entire course period will be borne by the Sponsor

6.6.The visa of the sponsor should be valid till the closing date of admission in respect of Medical and Allied courses.

6.7. The relationship between the candidate and his/ her father/ mother, which are recorded in the educational certificates, maintained in the usual course of transactions by the consent authorities, shall be accepted.

6.8 All the certificates/ documents required to establish international student status shall be produced at the time of submission of application itself. The certificates/ documents produced later shall not be entertained under any circumstances.
