The Bachelor of Science in Medical Biochemistry is a four-year professional degree program affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), designed to provide students with a solid foundation in biochemical processes in human beings and develop analytical, technical, and critical thinking skills. This comprehensive program combines theoretical knowledge with extensive practical training to develop competent medical biochemists capable of contributing to clinical diagnostics and research.

Key Program Outcomes: Graduates will master biochemical processes and analytical techniques, develop proficiency in operating and maintaining biochemistry laboratory equipment, acquire skills in routine and specialized investigative procedures, gain competency in clinical laboratory organization and management, qualify for official certification as medical biochemists, and become capable of establishing and managing clinical or research laboratories.
Curriculum: The program covers 16 specialized papers including Anatomy, Physiology, General Biochemistry, General Methodology, Community Medicine & Health Education, Analytical Methods & Instrumentation, Enzymology, Endocrinology & Toxicology, Human Nutrition, Intermediary Metabolism, Clinical Biochemistry, Human Genetics & Molecular Biology, Immunology & Immunochemistry, Diagnostic Biochemistry & Laboratory Management, Research Methodology, Biostatistics, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, culminating in a mandatory project work.
Training Approach: Interactive lectures, tutorials, assignments, and seminars ensuring active student participation, extensive laboratory-based practical sessions, regular clinical laboratory postings for hands-on experience in material collection, processing, analysis, and reporting, student seminars for presentation skill development, and supervised project work in the final year to develop independent research capabilities and thesis documentation skills.

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent, having minimum 80% marks.
The selection of students for the BSc Medical Biochemisty course is strictly on merit basis as decided by the competent authority approved by the Government of Kerala/Kerala University of Health Sciences.
A candidate on admission to the BSc Medical Biochemisty course shall apply to the university for registration.
