The Diploma in Respiratory Technology is a specialized two-year program designed to develop competent and compassionate respiratory care technicians. Eligibility: Plus 2 (10+2) pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Key Program Outcomes: Graduates will master bedside care of ventilated patients, demonstrate proficiency in respiratory equipment interface and machine operation, assist physicians in inhalational techniques, nebulization, oxygen therapy, and rehabilitation methods, provide expert assistance in spirometry, arterial blood gas analysis, and cardiopulmonary exercise testing, evaluate clinical needs for artificial airways, apply appropriate infection control methods, analyze arterial blood gas results for ventilatory modifications, and demonstrate professional communication skills with healthcare teams.
Curriculum: The program covers comprehensive respiratory care protocols including Arterial Blood Gas Analysis, Airway Management and Suctioning, Intubation and Extubation Techniques, IPPB Therapy, Non-invasive Ventilation, CPAP Applications, Pediatric/Neonatal Mechanical Ventilation, Patient Assessment and Care Planning, Infection Control in Respiratory Care, Spirometry and Pulmonary Function Testing, Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing, Polysomnography, Chest Physiotherapy, and Oxygen Therapy Administration.
Training Approach: The program combines classroom discussions with extensive laboratory and clinical experiences using the respiratory care process. Students develop knowledge through theory sessions, hands-on laboratory practice, and clinical rotations. Training includes adult floor therapy competencies, diagnostic procedures, pediatric care specializations, and equipment troubleshooting. Assessment includes unit exams (50%), clinical evaluations (25%), assignments and quizzes (15%), with mandatory attendance requirements (5%).
