The Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology-Microbiology is a two-year professional postgraduate degree program affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), designed to provide specialized advanced training in microbiological laboratory sciences for BSc MLT graduates. Curriculum: The program covers 6 specialized papers including General Microbiology, Systematic & Diagnostic Bacteriology, Medical Parasitology & Mycology, Immunology, Medical Virology, Applied Medical Microbiology & Recent Advances, and mandatory dissertation work. The curriculum emphasizes health administration, leadership, quality assurance, management, and health informatics in microbiological contexts.
Training Approach: Intensive didactic lectures with discussions, weekly seminars and journal clubs, case presentations, group discussions and review clubs, tutorials for BSc MLT/DMLT students, minimum 6 seminar presentations and 6 journal club presentations per student, clinical laboratory practices in hospital microbiology subspecialties, and specialized training visits to reputed national and international institutions covering molecular biology, virology techniques, mycology, vaccine preparation, laboratory animal handling, milk analysis, water analysis, and advanced bacteriological methods.
