The Master of Physiotherapy in Community Health & Geriatrics is a two-year professional postgraduate degree program affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), designed to develop dynamic, progressive postgraduate physiotherapists capable of working at both individual and population levels to promote inclusive health, prevent disease, and maximize functioning and independence. This comprehensive program combines theoretical knowledge, clinical practice, research, and community engagement to develop competent specialist physiotherapists in community and geriatric care.

Key Program Outcomes: Graduates will master physiotherapy knowledge and skills framework for individual and population-level health promotion, effectively integrate resources and leadership skills to deliver high-quality innovative healthcare services, become competent educators and mentors for undergraduate and postgraduate students, conduct independent research and develop clinical care pathways, and efficiently advocate for maximizing access to physiotherapy services within healthcare delivery frameworks.


Curriculum: The program includes comprehensive classroom teaching covering fundamental physiotherapy subjects in the first year, advanced clinical conditions and assessment techniques for neurological disorders in the second year, mandatory research project with dissertation submission, extensive clinical postings in Community Health & Geriatrics departments, and specialized training at reputed centres nationwide for broader clinical exposure.


Training Approach: Interactive classroom teaching, self-directed academic learning activities, seminars and journal reviews, case presentations and discussions, clinical postings in community health and geriatrics departments, research project supervision, conference and workshop participation for knowledge enhancement, and clinical rotations at prestigious external centres for comprehensive experience across diverse healthcare settings.
